       Harold L. Kennedy, III is a partner in the law firm of Kennedy, Kennedy, Kennedy and Kennedy, L.L.P. in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1974 with highest honors and from the University of Michigan Law School in 1977.

       He has practiced law in the same law firm in North Carolina since 1978. He concentrates his practice in the areas of wrongful discharge from employment, medical malpractice, retaliatory discharge, and wrongful death cases.  Prior to joining the law firm, he served as Assistant to the Executive Director of the National Football League Players’ Association.

       He was formerly a member of the Board of Governors of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. He received the Lawyer of the Year Award from the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers in 1988. He has an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Labor and Employment Law. He is also listed in North Carolina Super Lawyers. He is a member of the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the American Association for Justice, the State Bar of North Carolina, the North Carolina Bar Association, the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the North Carolina Association of Black Lawyers, the Forsyth County Bar Association, the Winston-Salem Bar Association and the United States Supreme Court Historical Society.He is also listed in Top Lawyers in North Carolina.

       Harold Kennedy, III litigates major civil cases throughout the State of North Carolina.

       He has been involved in many state and community activities and civic affairs. He was formerly Chair of the Forsyth County Democratic Party, member of the North Carolina Democratic Executive Committee and was an alternate-delegate to the 1980 Democratic National Convention in New York City. He currently serves on the Board of the UNC-CH School of Education Foundation and the Board of the Piedmont Wind Symphony. He has previously served on the Board of the National Black Theatre Festival and the North Carolina Black Repertory Company. He also served on the Winston-Salem State University Foundation Board and the Board of Visitors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

       He is a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church (Winston-Salem), where he has served on the Vestry and has been a Delegate to several North Carolina Episcopal Diocesan Conventions.

       He is also a member of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
